Customer Reviews:
Pre-Filter Fits All Honeywell HEPA Air Cleaners
I follow the manufacturer's recommendation to change the pre-filter every 3 months on all my Honeywell Air Cleaners with HEPA filters. These replacement filters come boxed in a set of two. The pre-filter simply wraps around the round HEPA filter, which is inside the unit, and attaches to itself by means of two velcro fasteners. It takes less than five minutes to change the pre-filter. In between changes, I vacuum my pre-filters to remove accumulated dust and pet hair from them. These pre-filters do help to remove some odors from rooms, especially if you are able to keep the space enclosed where you have the air cleaner running.Be sure to keep a box or two of these pre-filters on hand in case they become back ordered. The HEPA filter needs to be changed in 1-3 years, depending on conditions where it is located.

Universal Pre-Filter
This filter is larger (taller) than it needs to be for most machines. You simply trim the filter (and it's got pre-made perforations) to the height of your machine. And yes, this means that if you have one of the smaller machines, one which is less than half the height of the pre-filter, you might get two pre-filters for the price of one. Bonus.

Not "by Honeywell"
Under the Amazon title are the words "by Honeywell". No. What I received was not "by Honeywell". It might be just as good. It might even be better. But, it is not "by Honeywell". One thing I noticed is the filter does not have the pre-cut lines for easy fitting to my particular air filter. It also seems denser which may make it pass through less air. Nice price, but I would have gone to Home Depot and bought the real thing had I only known the truth. So, be careful ordering from these Amazon merchants.

Suffering? Tips To Crush Your Spring Allergies
20.05.11 @ 1:39 pm | No Comments

For nearly 36 million Americans, spring comes with a major buzzkill: allergies. And natural allergies are only getting more severe. Allergies to pollen, ragweed, and other common airborne triggers have doubled in the past 20 years — a 5 percent per decade increase since the 1970s — clogging up even those who've always been sniffle-free.

Plus, allergy seasons are longer. "Hay fever is typically caused by trees in the spring, grasses in the summer, and ragweed in the fall," explains Paul R. Epstein, M.D., associate director of the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School. But thanks to global warming, our growing seasons are lengthening. "In some states, spring is coming 10 to 14 days earlier than it did 20 years ago," says Kim Knowlton, Dr.P.H., a senior scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council's Health and Environment program. And that trend is likely to continue.
