SWEEPING , mopping and vacuuming the floors regularly do not guarantee a clean house as in many cases, minute dust particles are left behind floating in the air to settle back on the surfaces.

Most vacuum cleaners have trouble sucking up fine particles including hair and thread as often their filters are soon clogged with dirt and dust, cutting off airflow.

"Suction alone cannot pick up dirt. It is the velocity of airflow that enables a vacuum cleaner to pick up small particles," said Myco Lam, the CEO of Quality Air Consultant, the distributor of Filter Queen products in Malaysia.

I need info on the best air filters!? | Air Purifiers

I was wondering how a HEPA air filter works (not down at the molecular level but if you’re supposed to plug it in somewhere and let it work it’s magic). Also if you need to buy replacement filters or if you just need to clean it every couple of days and etc.

I would like to know the same about Oreck air filters or any others…I don’t want to buy an air purifier that requires me to constantly purchase new air filters and etc.

HEPA filters aren’t stand-alone cleaners, they work as part of some appliance (vacuum cleaner, air cleaner, furnance). They do eventually have to be replaced, and I’ve never seen any that can be cleaned (logically, if you take them out and clean them, you’re putting dust back into the air in doing it, so that would seem to defeat the purpose of the fancy filter).

There’s no free lunch here. The dust and stuff has to go somewhere, and the best place is into the filter. When it gets full, though, you need to replace it.
