We took this question to our technical department and here s what we learned: Particles: Technically speaking, dust, pollen, hair and other airborne particles actually respond well to a higher setting. That s because the air is drawn-in at a faster rate which make the particles smack into the fibrous web of the HEPA filter with greater force. This increases the chance that they ll get stuck in the HEPA. Using the high setting for a few hours may be an excellent quick fix strategy if you ve just finished brushing your pet or are cleaning out a dusty space, but our technical expert was quick to point out that over the long term it s just as effective to keep your unit on and running on low.
