SMOKING
I just purchased 2 of these filters. I live in Southern Ca and we are surrounded by large fires 8 to be exact at this time. it has been very smoky out in the San Fernando Valley. my wife has allergies, and the smoke doesn't help her.I also have large birds that are pets, and they could get seriously ill because of all the smoke. To the point these elegant filters has removed every last particle of smoke etc from a large living room.The air smells better under these conditions then under normal ones. I use the med speed, and it performs like as much larger unit. Also these are reusable filters so I don't need to worry about running of them .I do not find these filters , even close to being noisy More like fairly quiet, even in the highest speed..I will order another pair for my bedroom.

Effectively Cleans Small Areas
I purchased two of these a couple years back to help clean out the dust/cat dander in the air so my girlfriend's allergies wouldn't bother her so much. We put one in the bedroom and one in the living room. For cleaning the air, they do a great job, and it's easy to vacuum the filters clean. After running one on medium/low for 24 hours we could tell a huge difference! The remote control is a nice touch, too.

The noise level on low is fine. Sure, when you crank it up to medium or high it can be noisy, but while you're asleep or watching tv you can easily turn it on low and it really isn't that noisy. It's as noisy as a small fan. Who can't sleep through a fan on low?

There are down sides to this product, however. First, and most importantly, the oscillation feature is worthless, because on both of my units there is a loud POP every time the unit resets on one side. It will drive you mad if you try to fall asleep with it oscillating in the background. Secondly, and this is a minor gripe, but the filter housing seems that it could've been engineered a tad bit better so to have a tighter seal between the filter and unit. As it is now, I think too much dust is allowed to pass through the unit. Still, it works great. We love them.
