The budget was $16.7 million and the levy was 35 cents for every $100 of valuation, or $350 on a $100,000 property. That's up from 33 cents per $100 last year.
County Clerk Myra Johnson said the increase was to pay bonds issued by Kearney County Health Services for HVAC repairs.
The tax request for the county was $2.9 million, up from $2.6 million last year.
In other business, the board signed a notice of its intent to issue up to $1.2 million in recovery zone bonds but did not specify the projects that will receive the bond funding.
Johnson said representatives from the Axtell Swimming Pool have asked to use the bonds to rebuild the pool. "The board is waiting to see if anyone else comes forward and requests it," she said.
The recovery zone bonds can be issued for government projects or private businesses. The federal government will pay back 45 percent of the interest on the bonds using federal stimulus funds.
