Customer Reviews:
These filters last longer!
We run two humidifiers all year round here--it's dry in the desert--and these filters are MUCH better than the reg ones. It's worth a little more to get these. That blue stuff on the outside helps them last longer and filter the air better.

These are way better than regular ones
I don't even know why they still make the non-airwashing filters. These really do take a lot of the dust out the air, but more importantly these filters holdup a lot longer than the ones do, and they really aren't that much more expensive. These filters are mislisted though, their real part number is HAC-504AW, the "AW" is for "Air Washing", because for the blue layer of filter material.

Filter thickness reduced
For years I have been delighted with these replacement filters for my Honeywell humidifier. Unfortunately the manufacturer has recently made a product change that I find very disappointing, the filter's thickness has been reduced in half - while keeping the price unchanged. This of course then cuts in half the amount of wet area exposed to the air stream making the humidier less effective!

Hurricane Irene: A Mixed Bag For Retailers
29.08.11 @ 1:39 pm | No Comments

By ANNE D'INNOCENZIO
AP Retail

NEW YORK (AP) - Hurricane Irene's impact on retailers is similar to its effect on various states. Some got hit hard. Some didn't get hit at all. And although there are billions of dollars in losses, it will take time to fully assess the damage.

Home-improvement retailers, drugstores and grocers fared well as people from the Carolinas and up and down the Eastern Seaboard snapped up emergency supplies like water, batteries and sump pumps. Meanwhile, sales at department stores, clothing chains, movie theaters and hotels slumped during what is typically an important back-to-school shopping weekend for many of them.

Overall, some estimate that the retail industry lost about $1.3 billion in revenue over the two-day period, or 25 percent of what it normally would have made over the weekend. More will be known about how retailers fared on Thursday when more than two dozen major chains, including Target Corp. and Macy's, report their monthly sales from July 31 through Saturday. But the full impact of the storm may not become completely apparent for many weeks later.
